Our Beliefs

About Scripture

We believe the Holy Scriptures (The Bible) as the revealed Will and Word of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice. We believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, that He protected the inspired process of the writing the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, to equip humankind to love and honor God and love our neighbors as ourselves, in every area of life. The Word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

About God

We believe there is one true God who is eternally self-existent and the creator of all things.  God is beyond our limited human understanding and imagination and has revealed himself through his Word.  God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-present.  He is unconditionally loving, relentlessly merciful, and absolutely just.  He has revealed himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is the Godhead that is commonly referred to as the trinity, one God, meaning one in unity, nature, character, and essence, in three distinct persons, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. There are many references throughout the Old and New Testaments that affirm this revelation of God to us.

About Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Word of God, eternally existent, in the beginning all things were created by Him, He was fully human and fully God.  Jesus was born of a virgin who conceived by the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, raised the dead, healed the sick, cast out demons, fulfilled the scripture as the Messiah (Savior), was worshiped as God, died a substitutionary death on the cross, rose from the dead on the third day, and is seated at the right hand of God The Father interceding for his people. He will one day return to earth to Judge the living and the dead and believers shall be with Him in the New Heavens and New Earth for all eternity.

About the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, we see His Working throughout the Bible, and indwells every believer at salvation. Jesus said that when He ascended, He would send the Comforter, and He would dwell in them. By the Holy Spirit, believers are baptized into the Body of Christ. There is a separate and distinct experience or work of the Holy Spirit, “The Baptism in the Holy Sprit”. This Baptism endues the believer with power to be a bold witness for Jesus and manifest the Kingdom of God through signs wonders and miracles, just as Jesus did. The gifts of the Holy Spirit should be earnestly sought by the believer and used to serve others, edify the church, and glorify God.  We believe the believer, baptized and empowered by the Holy Spirit, will experience the initial physical evidence of speaking in tongues, as evidence of the Spirit baptism. The nine gifts of the Spirit are distributed as The Holy Spirit wills. The fruit of the Spirit is the by-product of a believer who lives a surrendered life to Jesus and who’s character and life, both inner and outer, are transformed through the sanctifying (purifying) work of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads people into truth, convicts of sin, and draws people to Jesus. The Working of the Holy Spirit will cause believers to be an effective witness for God throughout the world.

About Creation

We believe the Biblical account of creation as recorded in Genesis is literal and not figurative. The scriptures teach, in the six days of creation, that God himself created with purpose and intent and that everything was created by Him and for Him. Most doctrines of the Bible can trace their roots back to the book of Genesis. We choose to embrace the scriptures account over contemporary theories, such as evolution.  Example; if death existed before Adam and Eve, then it would contradict the teaching in scripture that sin and death entered the earth realm through Adam and Eve’s disobedience and sin. The doctrine of creation also affirms, that there are not many races of man, but one race, the human race, that God created them male and female. We are all of one blood according to the scripture. We affirm the event of a catastrophic worldwide flood. We believe that God is in the process of restoring creation back to its original design and will ultimately create a new heaven and new earth that has not been altered by sin and death. The doctrine of creation is foundational to many other doctrines of the Bible.

About Humanity

We believe that humankind is created in the image of God.  As such, we were designed to rule and reign for God on the earth.  However, we believe that when Adam and Eve sinned, the result was that death entered the earth realm and that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Therefore the need for redemption is universal to all people and must be received personally to experience salvation from the fall of mankind. We believe that unconditional love, unlimited forgiveness, and undying hope are found in Jesus Christ - the one and only mediator between God and man.

About Marriage

We believe that God created marriage and that it is a covenant between one man and one woman. We also recognize that both men and women are created equally in the image of God. The Scripture, biology, and thousands of years of recorded history all confirm that mankind consists of only male and female. The sexual identity and preferences that an individual may choose to identify with, cannot nullify these self-evident truths. Therefore, we only recognize marriage that is between a man and a woman. We seek to give loving direction to those who are confused by the many cultural messages that would make what is self evident and simple, confusing. The goal is to teach the uniqueness and gifts of both male and female and how they both bring glory to God in their design. There are many scriptures that clearly mention that there are sexual sins, and the attempts of culture to teach contrary to God’s plan and design will lead to deception and perversion.
